Someone would have to be pants-on-head brain dead to not immediately figure out how erasing inequalities for all the women in their lives would not benefit them, and all men, as well.

It's a lot easier to breed contempt among people that don't have a lot of contact with the people they're supposed to hate. It's not a slur, it's just a fact of life and bigotry. Just like fear of black people is more prominent in highly-segregated communities and how it's super easy to be a homophobe until your child comes out.

You didn't outright say loser. It's more like you said retarded but I'll let that slide. It's pretty clear from the subtext of what you actually write to see what you actually feel.

Yes, I hold the very controversial position that teenagers are largely uneducated and not mature enough to grasp the nuances of social issues that have no immediate impact on their lives.

I have a daughter a wife a sister in law and work with women on a daily basis and still disagree with you. You need to move away from the horribly weak argument that people who disagree with you are stupid or lacking perspective. It actually makes you appear to be that which you believe others are.
There are plenty of adult educated non bigoted, non sexist, men and women who don't believe the same as you do.

It's bullshit that it even has to be sold has helping both genders. It's very clear that men don't face near the same amount of social and structural crap that women face. I just wish people in this thread to think about how stupid it would sound to say, "I would help gay/black/women, but it doesn't help straight/white/men enough, so I'll just shit on the entire thing." All Watson is.trying to do is help break the stigma of men openly supporting women's rights, in the hope that it will expand throughout the world. They make it sound like she is some selfish manipulator, and it's so fucking pathetic.
Seriously.. Nobody also seems to understand that the agency is active in developing countries where women's rights are clearly not guaranteed, either by law or in practice. I've worked with them, and they've made the participation of men in their projects an important part of their success. This is not just a PR stunt to trick men into donating; this strategy is implemented on the ground and is benefiting men both indirectly and directly. Some examples can be found in this document for anyone who is curious how men are involved in some of the programmes related to core goals like reducing gender-based violence, that UN Women supports in LDCs.
I think they know; it's just that they don't care. They live on the Internet and think feminism is some caricature they've found on tumblr. They think that jessie Jackson and Al sharpton are worse than deeply imbedded institutional racism. They think that white male gamers are persecuted. They only really move on stuff like gay marriage when it becomes socially unacceptable not to support it, otherwise they carry the same regressive views. It's just tiring. Good for you for working with groups that do this stuff too, it actually does something, rather than guys like me that just whine about it on SRD.
