TL; DR There are a lot of ways to get girls - becoming a cheerleader isn't one of them.

My sophomore year of college I was hooking up with a cheerleader. She was real cute and fun to go out with, but she came with a tag-along. Her partner on the cheerleading squad, a dude we'll call Ryan.

They apparently went to the same high school and when she decided to come to my college to be on the cheerleading team, he decided to do the same. One night she and I met up at a party and we're sitting on a couch, drinking, flirting, whatever, and I see this dude starring daggers at me from across the room. Would not take his eyes off us. I said something to her about it and she was like, "oh that's just Ryan. He's my cheerleading partner. He can be protective but he's like my brother." He hadn't been out the first couple times we met/hooked up, so I hadn't met him, but eventually he comes over and starts talking to her, ignoring me except to continue his mad dog staredown.

I tried to be chill about it but kind of lost my patience when he continued to be a ggggiiiannnt douche so I suggested we (me and the girl) bail and head back to her dorm. She's down, but so is he? He starts following us out of this party and back to her dorm. I'm like, "I think we got this dude, no worries." He keeps saying he just wants to make sure she gets home safe. She's saying, "Ryan, I'm good, go home." No dice.

We get back to her room and she and I are sitting on her bed, Ryan on her roommates. I got less and less subtle with my 'get the fuck out dude's. She's getting frustrated and Ryan flat refuses to leave, says he doesn't like me, doesn't trust me, etc. I'm kind of laughing at this point at the most ridiculous friend-zone cockblock attempt I've ever seen, but I had to appreciate the effort.

Eventually she asks me to go in the hallway with her and I can't believe it, figuring she's gonna ask me to leave. But she says, "give me a minute and let me deal with Ryan, he does this sometimes. But he's just protective." Suuuuure. She goes back in and they talk for almost ten minutes. I can even hear him raising his voice a couple times. I'm sitting in the hall debating if I should go in and kick this dude out myself, or just bail on this wasp-nest of crazy. And just then he walks out. He says, "you better be good to her," nearly crying, and backed down the hallway staring at me. I laughed and walked in.

That was the last time I hooked up with that girl. Way too much crazy.

Good ending, that guy was an ass I hate when people feel entitled to a girl when she has no intrest in them

You didn't pick up on the fact op (and most normal people) thought the chick was crazy too? Yeah, the dude was nuts, but the girl was enabling it.

I hate that too. I also hate girls that continue to allow those sick friendships to exist. Generally both parties are pretty sad people.

Friends can be like that too. Had an incident kinda like this. My friend threatened this guy for no reason what so ever.she said she was just being a good friend but really fucked things up for me. Things still aren't the Same between us and I really liked him :(

Ughh tell me about it. Having the same problem with my girl right now. This dude feels entitled to her for some reason after she denied him and hes basically ruining every time we go out since were all part of the same group. Just makes shit awkward. As revenge every time he acts a douche I just start sucking face with her even though it goes against my PDA rules.

Guy is a psycho but most girls like that don't have blinders on they are just using the guy.

Very much in love with her. She later quit the cheerleading team, I heard because he admitted his feelings for her super weirdly and wouldn't let it go.

The dude's entire high school and college career was revolving around him being "perfect" for her. Scary weird.

How was she crazy? You didn't mention that in your story. Obviously the guy was crazy, but you weren't talking about sticking your dick in him.

It's funny that he was trying to protect her but instead his creepy overprotectiveness actually probably caused this girl more grief because he scared away potential boyfriends.

Here's the thing though. I don't get it. I was in love with my best friend. She wasn't. We remained friends but I've never attempted to cock-block anyone who was interested in her. She's married to someone else now and I'm sort of ok with it. I couldn't bring myself to attend their wedding. I was still in love but I wish no harm to him because that would mean she'd be hurt.

I have such a similar story, only I'm the girl. I met this guy, Dave online and he was, like, perfect. Smart, funny, handsome. The whole package. We flirted around, had very mild sexual conversations, but we never made it official. Eventually Dave started being REALLY protective of me. I told him that my ex was a douche (that's pretty much all I said) and he wanted to go to my ex's house and "talk" to him. Um, no. I have a son and I made an offhanded comment after a long day of parenting that I should get paid to raise him. He offered me $200. Da fuk? After two weeks of talking, he wants me AND my son to come over to his house. He bought toys for him. We weren't even dating. So at this point, I make up some lame excuse and gtfo. He handles it surprisingly well.

So I move onto my next adventure, a quiet, subtly intelligent kind of guy, Mark. And Dave just freaks. He texted me like 20 times in an hour. I told him it was bullshit. Mark sees I'm flustered, asks what's up, and I tell him. So Mark laughs and gives Dave his number. Dave is furious, Mark keeps making clever jokes.

Dave then gets pissed at me, but he won't stop texting me. I'm changing my number soon. Mark and I ended things for other reasons, neither of us were looking for anything serious, but we're still really good friends. I have a new boyfriend now, and I'm just terrified that Dave is going to find some way to weasel himself into this one, too :/

I get where you're coming from but kinda feel bad for the other dude

Edit: Felt bad cause it seemed like he really liked her. He shouldnt have been trying to fuck up your thing with the girl though just cause he couldnt get any, he was a douche for that part

I don't. He constantly tries to ruin this girls relationships and drive people away even though she's clearly not interested in him. He's setting himself up for disappointment and making her unhappy in the process. He's an asshole.

He's a giant asshole. There was another time I was at a party some friends of mine were throwing. I'm not sure if it was a kegger, but it was big. Their neighbors called to tell them they were too loud and that they had called the cops. They asked me to help clear people out of the garage while they kicked people out of the main house.

So I walk in the garage, turn off the music, and start doing the whole, "EVERYBODY GET OUT, THE COPS ARE HERE" routine. Then, this fucking kid walks up to me, sunglasses at night, wifebeater on (but with the front pulled up behind his head so his whole chest is showing), and starts to protest. So, I'm stoked because I got to tell him to gtfo personally, to which he replies,

"But dude, I'm a cheerleader"

I fucking lost it. One of the best things I'd ever heard. My friends and I still use the phrase when bad things happen to us.

In a way I feel kinda bad for him. Obviously he really liked her and she just played along with this "oh he's like a brother" friend zone bullshit. Yeah he's acting like an overprotective dbag, but she should be straight with the guy (or should have been in high school when all this started) and told him to back off. Poor guy prolly has to watch as she hooks up with a bunch of differnt guys and the poor guys she hooks up with have to deal with him in return. Shitty awkward situation for everyone.
